What happens when F1 world champion Max Verstappen meets NLS rookie Andy Gülden?

14.12.2023

The answer to this question will be provided by the BMW M 3h race of the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series on Saturday, December 16. Reigning Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen will take on the challenge of the 'Green Hell' in the Ferrari 296 GT3 of Team Redline. Among others, the Dutchman will meet NLS rookie Andy Gülden. The chief instructor of the Nürburgring Driving Academy will start together with Gregor Kinski in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from Nürburgring eSports. You can see how the Formula 1 world champion fares against the Nordschleife and sim racing pros in the livestream on VLN.de on Saturday from 11:45 am with the first images from qualifying. The starting lights will finally turn green at 1 pm. "I think we'll all have to dress warmly when Max lines up in the DNLS," says Gülden. "As Formula 1 world champion, he is currently not only the best racing driver in the world, but has also been an excellent simracer for years. I'm really looking forward to contesting a race against him. You don't experience that every day." Verstappen will share the cockpit with his compatriot Rudy van Buren, the official simulator test and development driver for Oracle Red Bull Racing. Team Redline is one of the veterans of sim racing. Founded in 2000, the multinational team has more than 100 titles to its name - including winning the first iRacing World Championship in 2010. After Mercedes-AMG's six-race triumph in the opening race, the rivals are looking for revenge. The BMW, Ferrari and Porsche teams were clearly left behind in the SP9. There is a change of brand in the DNLS2 line-up. Sami-Matti Trogen and Dominik Staib from the Sontek Racing team are switching from Ferrari to Lamborghini. In addition to Redline, LionGP-fenster.com will continue to attack with the Ferrari 296 GT3. BS+Competition, WS Racing and RC Carshop eSports will compete with the BMW M4 GT3, while Halder Motorsport, Coanda Esports by Manthey, Leipert eSports and the Falken Simracing Team will rely on Porsche. The premiere of the Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring was fiercely contested at the season opener. Scherer eSport Cup secured first place in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup one-make cup ahead of the Apex Racing Team and Team Redline. The other teams from the real Nürburgring Endurance Series, pb performance, KKrämer Racing eSport, AVIA W&S e-Motorsport and Dörr Esports were still left behind. However, the teams will now do everything they can to improve their positions in race two. The premiere of the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the DNLS went well. Dörr Esports immediately took second place with the British super sports car behind Sontek Racing in the BMW M4 GT4. The brand mix at the top of the SP10 class was completed by the MAHLE Racing Team, which entered the Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the race. Behind ATRS eSports, the two NLS teams Adrenalin Motorsport and PROsport SimRacing finished fourth and fifth. After race one, the focus in SP3T will once again be on the duel between SimRC and Team Heusinkveld. The two teams have already dominated the class in recent years and are seamlessly building on their successes in the 23/24 winter season. In the new VT2 class, Nürburgring eSports celebrated its maiden victory with the Toyota GT86. And in race two, fans who are used to the best multiclass racing from the real Nürburgring Endurance Series can once again look forward to thrilling racing action and battles at mirror level in the smaller classes. DNLS2 presents teams in all classes with a new challenge. The 30-minute shorter race distance compared to the season opener requires completely new strategic planning. The professional sim racing teams work closely with their respective manufacturers. At Mercedes-AMG, for example, the topic of virtual motorsport is firmly anchored in the motorsport department - data analysis and strategic planning are carried out using the same software as in real racing.

Digital Nürburgring endurance series starts fifth season with new features

07.11.2023

After the season is before the season. While the real Green Hell is slowly but surely coming to rest, preparations for the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series (DNLS) are in full swing. Season 5 of the successful sim racing championship, which replicates the traditional and unique Nordschleife series of the VLN, kicks off the 23/24 winter season on December 2. With new vehicles and new classes, there will be more thrilling racing action on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in around a month's time. The most important innovation is the upgrading of the always fiercely contested CUP2 class. The Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PEETN) will be held here for the first time. With the support of Manthey, who also provide the two strongest Cup classes in the NLS in the real world, sim racers can also look forward to trophies and prize money totaling 8,000 euros in the future. As in its real-life counterpart, the PEETN is seamlessly integrated into the DNLS races. "We are delighted to be expanding the PETN season with the 'Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring', giving both teams and drivers as well as fans the opportunity to experience exciting racing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife during the winter months," says Julia Klee, Project Manager Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring. "This complements the existing one-make cup concept so that participants can continue to develop their driving skills and compete for a championship even after the official Nordschleife season. We are particularly looking forward to the additional collaboration with the well-known PETN teams and drivers and at the same time to getting to know new faces in virtual racing." A breath of fresh air is also blowing in the other classes. For example, the Ferrari 296 GT3, which has caused a stir in real motorsport this year - including victory in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring - will be competing in the SP9 for the first time. In the SP10, the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 will join BMW and Mercedes-AMG in the winter season. In the SP3T, the Hyundai Elantra will be replaced by the Veloster. And with the introduction of the VT2 class, the Toyota GT86 celebrates its entry into the digital Nordschleife championship. "The regulations are available online at vln.de/dnls and registration for the new season will start shortly," says Lars Nachtsheim, DNLS project manager within the VLN. "We are convinced that the DNLS will take another big step forward in Season 5, also thanks to the support of Manthey with the Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring. There is also an innovation in our own scoring mode: in addition to the winners in the now five classes, we will also crown the overall DNLS champion at the end. As in the real Nürburgring Endurance Series, the teams in the 'small' classes have the opportunity to finish at the top." When the new season of the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series kicks off on December 2, four teams that won the DNLS Community Cup this year will also be taking part: Dörr Esports (SP9), Gericke Motorsport (CUP2), Deutsche Payment Phantom (SP10) and Team Heusinkveld (SP3T).

Nürburgring publishes 2024 endurance racing dates

13.10.2023

The Nürburgring is giving a first preview of the 2024 season, and fans and teams of the popular endurance motorsport on the legendary Nordschleife can pull out their calendars. Because in addition to the date for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (May 30 to June 2, 2024), which has already been fixed for some time, the provisional dates for the popular formats of an endurance series and the Rundstrecken-Challenge Nürburgring (RCN) are now also fixed. As usual, the Nürburgring will present the entire event calendar for next year at the Essen Motor Show at the beginning of December. The challenges of the most demanding race track in the world are among the special fascinations in motorsport - for professionals, amateurs and fans alike. The endurance motor racing races lasting several hours have always been part of the Nürburgring DNA. That's why many horsepower enthusiasts mark the dates in their calendars well in advance and plan their vacations and free time accordingly. And the racing teams try to plan their entries as early as possible - either at the various races at the Nürburgring or taking into account the international racing calendar. Four-day motorsport festival at the 24h NürburgringNo matter what the respective focus is - planning security plays an important role for the teams. This is also why the Nürburgring already announced in 2021 together with the ADAC Nordrhein, as the organizer of the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, that the current contract would be extended early until 2028. The date of the highlight for 2024 was accordingly fixed early. Fans can look forward to a four-day motorsport festival in the Green Hell again next year. The 52nd edition of the endurance classic will take place from Thursday, May 30 to Sunday, June 2, 2024, with the dress rehearsal taking place a good month beforehand - the associated ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers from April 13 to 14, 2024. One race every month - nine dates for endurance seriesAs usual, the coming motorsport year will kick off with the test and set-up day. The first testing opportunity on the combination of Grand Prix circuit and Nordschleife will be on Saturday, March 16, 2024, when the teams taking part in the various races at the Nürburgring can prepare for the tasks ahead. The "warm-up" will be followed each month by fixed dates for an endurance series and for the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge (RCN). From March to October, the operators of the Nürburgring have taken into account the dates here, planning ahead with the respective season highlights. Thus, for an endurance series after the season opener on March 23, 2024, a 12-hour race or a double header (13 - 15.09.2024) can also take place. On this date, Sunday has already been reserved in addition to the usual race Saturday. The season finale is scheduled for October 12. Popular sport in the Green Hell: Nürburgring Circuit Challenge No racing series better represents the fact that the Nürburgring is also the home of popular sport than the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge. In this context, the entry-level series is called GLP - a regularity test whose regulations allow drivers to start with a street-legal vehicle. The goal is consistency. The participants must repeat their submitted lap time as accurately as possible in the subsequent confirmation laps. The next stage is the so-called performance test, the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge. This must be contested with a race-ready car and with at least the DMSB license A. In addition to a points system based on the lap times driven, there is also the 3-hour "Schwedenkreuz" race at the end of the season, which is counted as the eighth race. There the participants can gain their first racing experience. The dates for these popular formats have now also been set well in advance of the start of the season. The green light for the start of the RCN / GLP 2024 will be given at the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifier on the second weekend in April. The RCN will celebrate another appearance as usual in the context of the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. In October, there will be a double-header of the circuit challenge: on Sunday, October 13, and on Saturday, October 26, with the 3h race as the season's crowning finale. Adrenalin Motorsport wins sixth NLS title in a row

08.10.2023

After a thrilling finale, the champions of the 2023 Nürburgring Endurance Series have been decided. Daniel Zils, Oskar Sandberg and Philipp Leisen drove to their ninth victory in the ninth race in the VT2-R+4WD class in the BMW 330i of Adrenalin Motorsport Team Motec. In a long-distance duel with the driver trio from SRS Sorg Rennsport, Zils, Sandberg and Leisen thus made their triumph perfect. For Adrenalin Motorsport, it is the sixth title in a row. Leisen secured his fourth championship overall, while Zils and Sandberg defended their title from last year and took championship honors for the second time. Victory in the 47th PAGID Racing DMV Münsterlandpokal went to Frank Stippler and Christopher Mies in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II. The duo from Scherer Sport PHX thus gave Ernst Moser, team founder of predecessor racing team Phoenix Racing, a victory on literally his last outing on the pit wall. With its sixth title, Adrenalin Motorsport is now the most successful team in the NLS and has replaced Scheid Motorsport at the top of the statistics. "I can only repeat myself," says team boss Matthias Unger. "From the outside it might look easy sometimes, but this year was really damn hard. We had to put in another extreme effort to end up with nine class wins in the highly competitive VT2-R+4WD class. It was no walk in the park." The success of the team from Heusenstamm is no coincidence. "We simply had the best package again this year," said Sandberg. "We were a super-fast driver trio, the car was always perfect, the tires always fit and, last but not least, our team always made the right decisions - that was, as in the previous year, the secret of our success." After seven wins in the first seven races, the adrenaline trio had reached the maximum points haul. After that, the arithmetic began. The Sorg trio could still have drawn level and even taken the title. "Of course, we always had that in the back of our minds," says Zils. "But in practice, we only ever thought from race to race. We primarily focused on ourselves and that led to success in the end." With four titles in the NLS, Leisen is now one of the most successful drivers in the history of the traditional series. Only Heinz-Otto Fritzsche and Johannes Scheid were more successful, with five triumphs each. Leisen is already looking ahead: "After the season is before the season. I would like to fight for successes together with cool teammates like Daniel and Oskar in the coming year as well." One of the first congratulators was Daniel Sorg: "I congratulate Matthias on his sixth title. We had a thrilling fight until the final. Second place is a strong result in the end for Heiko Eichenberg, Fabio Grosse and Patrik Grütter. For us as a team, it's motivation in the end to fully attack again next year." SRS Sorg Rennsport also recorded victory in the Cup 3 class of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring in addition to the vice championship. Starting from pole position, Stippler and Mies dominated the action at the front of the field. Leading laps were also collected by five-time season winners Jakub 'Kuba' Giermaziak and Christian Krognes in the BMW M4 GT3 of Walkenhorst Motorsport. In the end, the team relied on the wrong strategy, had to make a refueling stop shortly before the end of the race and narrowly missed out on the podium in fourth place. Fabian Schiller and Lucas Auer in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed were delighted with second place. Julien Andlauer and Patric Niederhauser in Rutronik Racing's Porsche 911 GT3 R completed the mix of brands on the podium. Emotional victory for Scherer Sport PHX."This was a very emotional win for us," said Stippler. "We have had a very tough year. And with the retirement of Phoenix founder Ernst, an era is coming to an end. So it was important for us to give him this victory. I've been leaning with Phoenix for 15 years. We have celebrated many great successes together. I've been squeezing the car like a lemon all season. But it's never been rewarded. That's why I agreed with Chris that we would give it our all once again today. I would like to thank all the track safety officials and all the other participants for giving us a good time on the most beautiful race track in the world. We all have to be very grateful that we can do this together." Mies added, "That was legendary, sharing the car with Stippi and celebrating this victory for Ernst." Schiller, who was in the lead group throughout the race in the GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3, was happy with second place in the end, "It was a tough race. The car was very, very good and it was a very good race for us in general. For Luggi it was his first Nordschleife race and only his second ever in GT3 - so second place is a fantastic result." Auer was also beaming after the race about second place: "Fabian did a mega job. For me, it was important to reel off laps on the Nordschleife and I'm very happy to now be on the podium." The Rutronik duo was also pleased with third place after their final outing in the Green Hell this year. "It's great that I was able to finish my first race at the Nürburgring with the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) on the podium. I had a lot of fun in the duels during the race. In the end I lacked a bit of pace against Fabian," said Niederhauser. Victory in the Pro-Am classification of the GT3 class SP9 went to Florian Spengler and Markus Winkelhock in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II from Car Collection Motorsport. The duo finished fifth overall ahead of the fastest Aston Martin Vantage GT3, piloted by Phil and Ben Dörr. In addition to the drivers' championship, Zils / Sandberg / Leisen also won the production car trophy. And in the medienkraftwerk Junior trophy, too, an Adrenalin driver was at the top in the end. Nils Steinberg prevailed over Nico Otto (Max Kruse Racing) in second place and the two Black Falcon drivers Ben Bünnagel and Noah Nagelsdiek in third. In the NIMEX Team Trophy, Adrenalin won four class rankings. Other titles went to Zierau Hochvolt by Mertens Motorsport (VT2-FWD), CP Racing (SP9 Pro-Am), FK Performance (SP10), Four Motors Bioconcept-Car (AT(-G)), MØLLER BIL MOTORSPORT (TCR) and Walkenhorst Motorsport (SP9 Pro), among others. The racing team from Melle also decided the NLS Speed Trophy in its favor. Fastest lady of the 2023 season was Flavia Pellegrino Fernandes (Keeevin Sports and Racing). The successful drivers of the 2023 NLS season will be honored on November 18 at the Bitburger Event Center at the Nürburgring. Then, on December 2, the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series will kick off the 23/24 winter season, with five races on the schedule through the spring. The real endurance racing in the Green Hell will start in full swing from the end of March. The exact dates will be announced shortly.

Showdown in the Green Hell - who will take the championship title?

05.10.2023

The Nürburgring Endurance Series is in for a great season finale on 7 October. Not only will the championship be decided at the ninth and final race of the year, but the field of participants at the 47th PAGID Racing DMV Münsterlandpokal is also very strong. A number of spectacular GT3 cars will once again do the honours at the final race in the tradition-steeped Nordschleife championship. More than 120 racing cars - from touring cars close to series production to full-blown super sports cars - will tackle the 4-hour race. The two ex-Formula 1 drivers Timo Glock and Jack Aitken will also be taking part. Tickets are available from 20 Euros (children under 14 free). > more info & tickets Experience shows that for many teams the preparations for the coming year already start at the season finale. In the course of this, some spectacular GT3 cars return to the Green Hell. An armada of Porsche 911 GT3 R cars will be part of the action. In the service of Falken Motorsports, Sven Müller, Alessio Picariello, Tim Heinemann and Nico Menzel will attack with two 911s. Adrien De Leener and Dennis Olsen will start for Dinamic GT, while Julien Andlauer and Patric Niederhauser will take turns in the Rutronik Racing cockpit. The Haupt Racing Team and Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed will be flying the Mercedes-AMG flag. Arjun Maini, Frank Bird and Ralf Aron take turns in the HRT car, Lucas Auer and Fabian Schiller in the GetSpeed-AMG. Also strongly represented is the Aston Martin faction with two Vantage GT3s from PROsport Racing and one from Dörr Motorsport. In addition to the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II from Scherer Sport PHX - here Ricardo Feller will start alongside Frank Stippler - Car Collection Motorsport will bring a car for Florian Spengler and Markus Winkelhock to the Eifel. In the Ferrari 296 GT3 of the Frikadelli Racing Team, team boss Klaus Abbelen will personally contest the finale alongside David Pittard. The main opponents are the two BMW M4 GT3s of Walkenhorst Motorsport. The racing team from Melle has already scored five race wins in 2023. Most recently, Jakub 'Kuba' Giermaziak and Christian Krognes were at the top of the podium three times in a row. And Dylan Pereira, who will be competing in the sister car together with Sami-Matti Trogen, has already proven his ability with second place at the seventh round. However, Walkenhorst is not only present in the top group. Prominent starters at NLS9In 2020, British racing driver Jack Aitken already fulfilled a dream when he competed for Williams Racing in the top class of motorsport in Bahrain. This year, he is racing with Emil Frey Racing in the DTM and entered his name in the winners' list at the Lausitzring. At the NLS finale, he is now ticking off the next item on his bucket list. "I'm really excited to contest my first NLS race with Walkenhorst Motorsport this weekend. It's been on my bucket list for a long time," says the 28-year-old, who shares the cockpit of the Hyundai i30N with Manuel Maldonado and Bailey Voisin. "It's one of those iconic tracks that everyone has to try. First and foremost, I want to arrive and have fun!" Timo Glock has far more experience in Formula 1, with the 41-year-old having contested 91 Grand Prix between 2004 and 2012. He now heads to the Green Hell with considerably less power. In the BMW M240i Racing Cup, Glock starts together with Anton Abee and Michel Albers for Up2Race. Glock's goal is to qualify for the DMSB Permit Nordschleife level A. "I've never driven a race car in the Green Hell before, so accordingly I'm very excited about what lies ahead," he says. "The track is always a challenge, even with a relatively small vehicle. But I've already competed in the BMW 318ti Cup this year, so I know roughly what to expect. Of course, I'm also looking forward to seeing many of my colleagues again." With a grin, he adds, "Then when they whiz past me in the GT3 racer, I'll wave." For team boss Patrick Schneider, it is a great honour to have a top-class driver like Glock on his car: "We are very pleased that Timo has placed his trust in us to accompany him on his way to the permit. I competed in the BMW Cup class myself last year and I'm very excited to see how a proven professional will do in the field." Exciting championship decisions in many classesThe decision in the drivers' championship is in focus ahead of the finale. Daniel Zils, Oskar Sandberg and Philipp Leisen lead the standings in the Adrenalin Motorsport Team Motec BMW 330i. With another class win, Heiko Eichenberg, Fabio Grosse and Patrik Grütter in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS of SRS Sorg Rennsport would draw level on points. Then the comparison of the points from the two strike results comes into effect. Accordingly, a third place at the finale will be enough for the Adrenalin trio to clinch the title. For the team from Heusenstamm it would be the sixth in a row. In the NIMEX Team Trophy, too, the die is not yet cast in all classes. For example, PROsport Racing with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 can still catch CP Racing (Mercedes-AMG GT3) at the top in the SP9 Pro-Am classification. In the Ladies' Trophy, too, the decision will only be made at the finale. Flavia Pellegrino Fernandes (Keeevin Sports and Racing) currently leads by one point ahead of Desiree Müller (Eifelkind Racing). Both ladies are competing in the V4 class. Taking into account the two strike results, Müller can still turn the tide in her favour with a good result. There are also still titles open in the class winners' trophy before the final. Pellegrino Fernandes' team-mates - Dan Berghult and Juha Miettinen - are still fighting for victory in V4 against the trio from QTQ-Raceperformance. And in VT2-FWD, Felix Schumann, Joachim and Jürgen Nett (mathilda racing - Team LAVO Carwash) could also still catch the leaders Daniel Mertens and Christian Alexander Dannesberger (Zierau Hochvolt by Mertens Motorsport). The 47th PAGID Racing DMV Münsterlandpokal will run over the usual distance of four hours. The grid positions will be determined in qualifying between 08:30 and 10 am. During the 'NLS-Pitwalk presented by PITWALK - das Motorsportmagazin' from 10:20 a.m. and the visit to the starting grid from 11:10 a.m., the fans will experience motorsport with all their senses. The race starts at 12 noon. The entire race day will be broadcast live.

Walkenhorst Motorsport celebrates third victory in a row

23.09.2023

Christian Krognes and Jakub 'Kuba' Giermaziak in the BMW M4 GT3 from Walkenhorst are currently no match for anyone in the Nürburgring Endurance Series. The duo celebrated their third victory in a row at the 55th ADAC Barbarossapreis. For Krognes it was the fourth triumph of the year, for 'Kuba' even the fifth. Secondly leading the race, David Pittard, Nick Catsburg and Felipe Fernández Laser in the Ferrari 296 GT3 of Frikadelli Racing had to admit defeat in second place. Vincent Kolb and Frank Stippler in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II from Scherer Sport PHX ended their run of bad luck with third place. Excitement was the order of the day at the eighth race of the NLS in the 2023 season, with Frank Stippler securing the fourth pole position of the year for the Scherer duo. In the starting phase, Stippler defended the lead until the first pit stops. Further leading laps were collected by the team-mates of the winners, Dylan Pereira and Sami-Matti Trogen, in addition to the later first and second-placed drivers. The decision for victory came at the final pit stop. In light drizzle in the final third of the race, the Frikadelli squad lost valuable time on tire selection. "The driver wanted slicks, the race engineer wanted rain tires and I then made the decision in favor of slicks," said team boss Klaus Abbelen. The tire choice was to prove correct, with the delay at the pit stop ultimately handing the Ferrari team a 2:24.758-minute deficit. "I must say it was a very tough battle," said Giermaziak. "We were lucky with the first pit stop - we were able to gain time there. After that, we were almost on par with the Ferrari, even though it's unbeatable on a straight track." Krognes, who had to admit defeat to the Ferrari in a direct duel, said, "It was a cool fight! Especially during the rain, it was very difficult to tell on the track whether it was wet or dry there. It was a real challenge, Nicky was very fast, but I'm glad we came out of the race in first place." Catsburg describes the gripping duel with Krognes as follows: "Chris and I had a lot of fun at the beginning of the stint, he was very fast then. Then, at the end of the stint, his tires went flat, so I was able to catch up. And then the rain started. I mean I love this track, but I hate these conditions! When you're on slicks and it starts to rain... I managed to get past Chris and was able to get a gap out. Out of nowhere, though, he was then back on me." On the end of his streak of bad luck with three retirements in a row, Stippler said, "The fact that the streak of bad luck has now been broken is obviously good. Something like this also puts a damper on the mood of the co-drivers and the team when you have to experience so many retirements. That's why it's good to have this now, and it's like a salve for the team's wounds and souls." Kolb added: "The issue of punctures is definitely over, even if the lower track and air temperatures played into our hands, I think we're back where we left off last year." Behind the top trio, Darren Turner, Ben and Phil Dörr drove to fourth in the Dörr Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3. They were followed in the rankings by Pereira/Trogen in the Walkenhorst BMW. The fastest Porsche 911 GT3 Cup was driven by Christopher Brück, Tobias Müller and Moritz Kranz for Krämer Racing in sixth place. Nasr takes first step towards DPN AEx-Formula 1 driver Felipe Nasr has mastered his first step towards the big Northern Tire Permit. Together with Alesia and Jacqueline Kreuzpointner, he drove the Porsche Cayman GT4 CS to victory in the alternative fuel class. "Last week I was in Indianapolis, today here at the Ring - these are two completely different worlds," said the Brazilian. "I enjoyed every single lap. The Nordschleife is something very special. The idea behind my effort is to earn DPN A and then maybe compete here in the 24h race sometime in the future."Other class wins went to Møller Bil Motorsport (Audi RS3 LMS) in the TCR class, Manheller Racing (BMW E90) in V4, Schmickler Performance powered by Ravenol in V6 and SP3T, among others, Zierau Hochvolt by Mertens Motorsport (Hyundai i30N) in VT2-FWD, FK Performance Motorsport (BMW M4 GT4) in SP10, Smyrlis Racing (Porsche 718 Cayman GTS) in SP4T and the 'girls only' team of GITI TIRE MOTORSPORT BY WS RACING in SP8T. The final will be the big showdownThe championship decision remains open until the final. Both Daniel Zils, Oskar Sandberg and Philipp Leisen in the BMW 330i of Adrenalin Motorsport Team Motec and Heiko Eichenberg, Fabio Grosse and Patrik Grütter in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS of SRS Sorg Rennsport took a class win at NLS8. This results in the following situation in the standings: Adrenalin has already scored the maximum possible number of points. With another victory at the finale, Sorg can still draw level. The points from the two strike-off results will then be decisive. A third place in the final will then be enough for the Adrenalin trio to claim the title. For the team from Heusenstamm, it would be the sixth in a row. The result of the 55th ADAC Barbarossapreis remains provisional. Max Kruse Racing has announced an appeal against a decision by the stewards. Following a collision, the car of Benjamin Leuchter and Nico Otto was disqualified and Leuchter was stripped of his DPN for the upcoming event. The team now has 96 hours to justify the appeal. The 47th PAGID Racing DMV Münsterlandpokal will conclude the 2023 season of the Nürburgring Endurance Series on October 7. The race runs over the customary distance of four hours. Tickets are available in advance here.

The hot phase begins - exciting takes at NLS8

21.09.2023

The Nürburgring Endurance Series enters the home straight of the 2023 season with the 55th ADAC Barbarossapreis on 23 September. The focus of the eighth race of the year is the championship decision in the tradition-steeped Nordschleife championship. A number of other topics underpin the dramaturgy. Thrilling motorsport in the Green Hell is guaranteed. Tickets for the 4h race are available from 20 Euros (children under 14 free) in the online shop and at the box offices. The 24-hour winners are back! After the grandiose success of Frikadelli Racing at the Eifel Marathon, the Ferrari 296 GT3 of the team around Klaus Abbelen was granted the honour to be in the limelight at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from now on. Since Frikadelli Racing could already win the Am title in the CUP2 classification of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring at NLS7, the preparation for the coming year starts early now. David Pittard and Nick Catsburg will drive the brand-new super sports car from Italy at NLS8, which already had its roll-out during the test and set-up run before the 12h Nürburgring at the beginning of September. Due to their great successes - Pittard won the 24h race as well as the ROWE 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race in the Falken Porsche - the duo automatically slip into the role of favourites. They are opposed by a number of teams who were also successful at the Nürburgring in 2023, most notably four-time season winners Christian Krognes and Jakub 'Kuba' Giermaziak in the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. With three pole positions, Vincent Kolb and Frank Stippler in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II from Scherer Sport PHX are also always among the illustrious circle of candidates for victory. Of the NLS8 contenders, Schnitzelalm Racing (Mercedes-AMG GT3), PROsport Racing (Aston Martin Vantage GT3) and Dörr Motorsport (Aston Martin Vantage GT3) have achieved podium finishes so far this season. A Brazilian enters new territory: Felipe NasrWith Felipe Nasr, a former Formula 1 driver is preparing to conquer the Green Hell at the Barbarossa Trophy. The Brazilian raced for Sauber in the premier class in 2015 and 2016 and is now a Porsche works driver in the Porsche 963 LMDh hybrid prototype. His field is the North American IMSA sports car championship. It is not known whether his Nordschleife event was inspired by Sebastian Vettel, David Coulthard & Co. who made the legendary Nordschleife shake with F1 cars as part of the Red Bull Formula Nürburgring at the beginning of September. The fact is, Nasr is contesting a real racing event in contrast - alongside twins Alesia and Jacqueline Kreutzpointner in the 718 Porsche Cayman GT4 CS from Four Motors Bioconcept-Car (#420) to obtain the DMSB Permit A for the Nordschleife. Tobias Jung and thinking outside the boxTobias Jung wants to prove at NLS 8 that he can not only handle Opel cars. On the Nordschleife, the team from Bornheim won the hearts of the fans with the Calibra and Astra models. Now comes the first race with a Cupra Leon in VT3. Tobias Jung himself and Michael Eichhorn take turns at the wheel. The racing team is also fielding an Opel Astra in the TCR class, driven by none other than Carlos Antunes Tavares, the CEO of the Stellantis Group, which owns the Opel, Citroën, Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler brands, among others. At the side of the Portuguese, who lives in France, the Senior Vice President of Stellantis Motorsport, Jean-Marc Finot, takes the wheel. In the TCR class, the duo will face Møller Bil Motorsport with the Audi RS3 LMS, Halder Motorsport with the Honda FK7 TCR as well as Patryk Krupinski from Luxembourg, who is contesting a kind of home game in the Cupra TCR of the organising MSC Sinzig. A real showdown: who will be champion and when? The championship in the Nürburgring Endurance Series will only be decided in the last two races. Daniel Zils, Oskar Sandberg and Philipp Leisen in the Adrenalin Motorsport Team Motec BMW 330i have scored the maximum points haul in the first seven races: seven class wins in VT2-R+4WD. Nevertheless, the trio cannot sit back and relax, because Heiko Eichenberg, Fabio Grosse and Patrik Grütter, who drive a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS in Cup 3, are hot on their heels. Five class wins and two second places mean that they are currently still eight points behind. With two more class wins, the three drivers of SRS Team Sorg Rennsport can draw level, because at the end of the season, only the best seven results are included in the standings. Both teams would then be equal on points. In this case, four different rules apply and the decision becomes complicated. Rule number one weighs the respective number of placings against each other. Since both teams would have seven wins in the scored races, they would still be tied. Next, the position of the last race used for scoring is compared - again, both would have one win. Rule number three takes into account the points from the two strike results. For race eight this means: Sorg can delay the championship decision until the final with a win. If they fail to do so, Adrenalin will have a virtually unassailable lead in the standings - regardless of the result. If both teams win their class at NLS8, a third place will be enough for Adrenalin to win the title at the final. A historical plot twist is not out of the questionBy the way, the situation would get really curious if Sorg won both races and Adrenalin came second twice in the remaining races. Then rule number four would come into force: the consideration of the training results. The better average of the qualifying results leads to the title. But here, too, there is a tie - after seven of nine races, the average of both teams is 2.14. Should this remain the case until the finale, there would be two champion teams for the first time in the history of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. In the medienkraftwerk Junior Trophy 2023, Nico Otto, who competes in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup fielded by Max Kruse Racing in Cup 2, currently leads the standings. The team leading the standings, Adrenalin Motorsport, leads the NIMEX Team Trophy in four classes. A script that guarantees entertainment for the whole familyThe 55th ADAC Barbarossapreis will run over the customary distance of four hours. The positions on the starting grid will be determined in qualifying between 08:30 and 10 am. At the 'NLS-Pitwalk presented by PITWALK - das Motorsportmagazin' from 10:20 a.m. and the visit to the starting grid from 11:10 a.m., the fans will experience motorsport with all their senses. The race starts at 12 noon. The entire race day will be broadcast live on VLN.de. Between practice and the race, a parade for a good cause will take place on the Nordschleife. The Benefiz Corso e.V. is collecting donations for the track safety officers. The big sports stewards' party organised by the VLN in the paddock after the race is also aimed at the tireless helpers around the Nürburgring, without whom motor sport would be unthinkable.

DNLS Community Cup: The champions are sought in four classes

13.09.2023

The grand finale of the Community Cup of the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series presented by Goodyear will take place on Friday evening, 15 September. From 7:45 p.m., the fans will experience the big showdown of the 2023 season at the KALFF 3-hour race live on VLN.de. The fifth race is dedicated to the charitable organisation Kohle fürs Ahrtal e. V., which is calling for support for those affected by the flood disaster in the Ahr valley in 2021 as part of the digital event. The protagonists will start in four classes. In the top category SP9, Dörr Esports leads the standings after four races. Including the obligatory scratch result, the Esports team of the sports car dealer from Frankfurt is two points ahead of the chasing Team Heusinkveld with 34 points. The duel in the race will then be Porsche 911 GT3 R vs. Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO. While the Dörr team already has two victories to its credit, Heusinkveld managed this feat once. The fact that the championship is still very close is primarily due to Heusinkveld's consistency. In the GT3 class, Gericke Motorsport's Lamborghini is also in the mix, with its eye-catching livery promoting the Kohle fürs Ahrtal e.V. association. At the DNLS-CC finale, donations are to be generated to support a large truck parade with 50 vehicles at the end of September, which will set out from the south of Germany to deliver specifically needed relief supplies to the Ahr valley. Even though normality has returned to the Ahr valley in many places more than two years after the flood disaster, there are still people affected who are still dependent on help. While the relief goods are exclusively donations, the fuel and toll costs amount to about 60,000 euros. The basis of the association in general is not exclusively to generate donations of money or goods. Rather, further support and assistance is also arranged. However, Gericke Motorsport is not only at the start for a good cause, but in the end also to celebrate sporting successes. After four events, the team's Porsche crew is in first place in the CUP2 class with 38 points. With 15 points still to be awarded, the team leads by seven points over KKrämer Racing, the well-known Porsche racing team from the real Nürburgring Endurance Series. Dörr Motorsport, in third place, also still has a chance of winning the title. The championship decision in the GT4 class SP10 is also exciting. Deutsche Payment Phantom leads the tableau with 32 points with the Mercedes-AMG GT4 ahead of Adrenalin Motorsport with the BMW M4 GT4. The series champions of the real NLS will do their utmost to turn the tables once again at the finale. So far, the team has scored points primarily through consistency, but is still winless. Deutsche Payment Phantom won the season opener in the class.Only one point separates the two Hyundai Elantra of Team Heusinkveld and Impulse Racing in SP3T. The championship leaders recorded two commanding victories at the beginning of the season, after which the series came to an end. Impulse Racing, on the other hand, consistently scored eleven points in each of the three races. About the DNLS Community CupVirtual motorsport for everyone in a professional environment - that is the motto of the DNLS Community Cup. The virtues that the digital counterpart of the tradition-steeped Nürburgring Endurance Series has established with the DNLS since 2020 also characterise the new Cup: well thought-out and simple regulations, professional organisation and race management, live streaming and coverage of the races on the NLS channels. The sim racers are among themselves in the Community Cup - compared to the DNLS, there is no obligation to enter a driver from real motorsport in the GT3 class.
